Asparagus with serrano ham - ham and asparagus is the perfect marriage and this tapa is quick and easy to prepare. It is also good cooked on a chargrill or barbecue, or under the grill, turning to cook evenly.

12 fresh green asparagus spears trimmed
6 slices of serrano ham
1 pinch of black pepper
extra virgin olive oil

Boil the asparagus for three minutes, then drain and allow to cool.

Cut the ham slices in half and wrap each one tightly around an asparagus spear.

Line a baking tray with foil or greaseproof/baking paper and arrange the spears in a single layer.

Brush with olive oil, then season with pepper and cook in a hot oven for about ten minutes or until the ham is beginning to crisp and the asparagus is tender.

Plate up and serve immediately.
