It is actually a fact that, whilst the tourists are drinking sangria, the locals are drinking tinto de verano (simply red wine with soda, garnished with a slice of orange), but don’t let that put you off – it’s a great drink for parties and barbeques. Of course, it would be wrong to use an expensive wine, but do choose something full-bodied. The ingredients can be varied to taste.

1 Bottle of Spanish Red Wine
100 ml Brandy
300 ml Lemonade
200 ml Orange Juice
1 Orange, diced
1 Lemon, diced
1 Green Apple, diced
3 Strawberries, diced (optional)
3 tbsp Brown Sugar
1 Cinnamon stick
1
Place the fruit in a large jug, then pour the sugar over and mix.
2
Add all the liquids and the cinnamon stick and mix well.
3
Chill and serve
